Border Security Force (BSF) is the First Line Defence of Indian territories, controlled by Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). The foremost function of this force is to ensure the security of the borders and the serious matters connected with them. In the initial times, BSF has few battalions in 1965 and expand to 186 battalions with a strength of 257,363 soldiers including marine wing, air wing, artillery regiments and commando units. And at present, BSF is the world’s largest security force. BSF Eligibility Criteria – Assistant Commandant (AC)

Candidates who want to join BSF as a officer rank, then they should go for AC examination. Assistant Commandant (AC) is a gazetted officers category and its exam is conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). There is a direct recruitment for assistant commandant post by 50% (including 10% from SSCO) and remaining 50% by promotion from the procedure Inspector to AC.

#Age Criteria

Candidate must be from 19 to 25 years. In case of SC/ST/OBC, relaxation is given as per the instructions provided by government of India.

# Educational Qualification

Candidates must have a graduate degree in any stream from a recognized institution/university or equivalent. NCC ‘C’ or ‘B’ certificate or achievements in sports or athletics will added an advantage to your qualification.

# Physical Standards

  • Required height for male and female candidate is 165 cms and 157 cms, respectively.
  • The required chest for males is 81 to 86 cms and there is no chest measurement for female candidate.
  • Weight required for males is 50 kgs and for females, taken as according to their height but it should be not less than 46 kgs.

# Medical Standards

  • For males, distant vision should be 6/6 or 6/9 and near vision be J-I (with or without glasses).
  • For females, distant vision should be 6/12 or 6/9 and near vision should be J-II (with or without glasses).
  • Color vision should be high.

# Assistant Commandant Selection Process

The selection procedure for AC examination is wind up in 3 stages i.e. written exam, Physical Standards, Physical Efficiency and Medical Standards Tests & Interview/Personality Test. Firstly, candidates have to give written exam which is divide into two parts i.e. Paper I and Paper II. After qualifying both the papers successfully, candidates will first go through the physical measurements like height, weight & chest. BSF Eligibility Criteria – Sub Inspector (SI)

Sub Inspector is the lowest officer rank of CAPF. The staff selection commission (SSC) has the responsibility to recruit the best and suitable candidates for this post. The 1/3 vacancies of SI is filled by direct recruitment and the remaining 2/3 are filled by promotion from the lower rank. Here are the different eligibility criteria for Sub Inspector exam:

# Age Criteria

Candidates age must be 20 to 25 years. The age relaxation is provided time to time for SC/ST/OBC according to the government instructions.

# Educational Qualification

Bachelor’s degree in any stream from a recognized university or equivalent, must be required.

#Physical Standards

  • The required height for male candidates are 170 cms and for female candidates are 157 cms.
  • Height required for candidates belonging to hilly areas (Garhwal, Kumaon, HP, Leh & Ladakh, Kashmir valley, Gorkhas, Marathas, Sikkimies, Dogras & NE States) is 165  and 155 cms of male and female.
  • Height eligible for candidates belong to scheduled tribes is 162.5 cms for males and 154 cms to female.
  • The chest requirement for males of this post is 80 to 85 cms for general, 80 to 85 cms for candidates belong to hilly areas and 77 to 82 cms for scheduled tribe.
  • Weight is measured according to height as per medical standards.

# Medical Standards

The distant vision should be 6/6 or 6/9 for both the eyes without wearing glasses.

# Sub Inspector Selection Process

To hold the sub inspector job of BSF, candidates need to qualify two stages i.e. written exam and physical & medical test. The first stage of SI is categorized into two sessions, that are Paper I and Paper II. Paper I is a multiple choice based paper of total 200 marks and 200 questions with 2 hours duration. Paper I is further divided into four sections, each carrying 50 questions of 50 marks. In Paper II, the questions will be subjective type means you have to write by using pen. The paper is of total 200 marks with 2 hours duration. Candidates can give exam in any format i.e. Hindi and English and there is negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answers.

The next stage of SI recruitment is Physical Standard Test (PST) which includes physical measurement and Physical Endurance Test (PET) which include some races and jumps, mentioned below:

After qualifying PST, candidates have to face the medical test which includes the eye, ear, body, etc checkups. This is the last procedure of SI recruitment and after that, the merit or final list will be publish.

BSF Eligibility Criteria – Constable

BSF Constable (General Duty) is the fist rank of non-gazetted category. It is the most important part of the force and therefore, hundreds of vacancies are released every year to hire the talented candidates. For the post of constable, candidates must fulfill some criterias and these are mention below, have a look:

#Age Criteria

An applicant must be between 18 to 23 years as on 1st of August every year. Relaxation for SC/ST/OBC, ex-servicemen and other categories will be provided according to the government orders.

# Educational Qualification

Candidates should have passed class 10th or above from a recognized board or university. Not percentage criteria is needed for constable GD.

# Physical Standards

  • Height: required for male candidate is 170 cms and for female is 157 cms.
  • Chest: required for males without expansion is 80 cms and with minimum expansion of 5 Cms.
  • Weight: for both males and females is proportionate to their height and age as per medical standards.

# Relaxation

# Medical Standards

The minimum far vision should be 6/6 and 6/9 for both the eyes without wearing glasses. Candidates must not have squint in their eyes and have high color vision. Candidates should not have knock knee, flat foot and varicose vein and should be in good mental and body health, free from any kind of physical defect.

Candidates for constable position will be selected from 5 steps and these are:
