Tapkeshwar Mahadev Mandir Story
There are many story behind this temple like, it is said that loard shiva aggrred to reside here in the form of linga on the request of ancient devotee sages. Also, it is said that the Guru of pandavas and kauravas Dronacharya use to mediated in the cave situated here.
But the most famous story is that of Ashawathama. In his childhood when due to poverty Ashawathama did not get milk, then he meditated and prayed to shiva in the cave here. Delighted with his prayers, lord shiva made the river of milk flow through the cave. Since then the drops of milk keep falling on the shiv linga, over times the milk turned into water and still drips on the shiv linga.
Every shiv ratri a mela or fair is organised around the Tapkehwar temple. It is one of the famous fair in the country and people from different parts of the country come to celebrate this epic mela.
