Today I am telling you about Surkanda Devi Temple. Surkanda Devi Temple is located on the Surkut mountain of Jaunpur district of Tehri Garhwal Uttarakhand and is one of the Siddhpeeths of Goddess Sati. Surkanda Devi Temple is situated at a height of about 3000 meters above sea level. From here, you can see the hills of Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri dhams. There is also a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and Hanumanji in this temple. It is believed, people who visit here on the occasion of Navratri and Ganga Dussehra, Devi maa fulfills their all desires.

When Lord Shiva was carrying the dead body of Mother Sati to the Himalayas, Lord Vishnu cut many pieces of Mother Sati’s dead body from his Sudarshan Chakra. Where the parts of Sati fell Shaktipeeth was established and Sati’s head was found on the Surkut mountain, hence the name here is Surkanda Devi. According to Skanda Purana and Kedarkhand, Devraj Indra got his lost kingdom by worshiping mother here. so people, whoever comes here to visit the mother with a kind heart, Devi Maa fulfills all their wishes.

Surkanda Devi temple is located 88 kilometers from Jolly Grant Airport and 67 kilometers from Dehradun Railway Station, If you are planning to visit Surkanda Devi Temple,  you can easily reach here by bus or taxi from Dehradun and Rishikesh.

By Road:  You can easily reach here by taxi or buses from Dehradun. Surkanda Devi Temple is located 320 km from Delhi and 67 km from Dehradun (Uttarakhand).

By AirPlane: The nearest International airport is Jolly Grant Airport Dehradun, which is 88 km away from Surkanda Devi Temple.

By Train: The nearest railway station is at Dehradun Railway station, it is 67 km from Surkanda Devi temple. From here you can take a bus or taxi to reach Surkanda Devi Temple.
